Today, while searching for some info on some Oracle-related problem and thus visiting a lot of blogs on Oracle (recognize this?), I found a link to an interesting site. It’s http://www.sqlfiddle.com/.
This site enables you to set up a testcase for a SQL-related problem in an isolated environment, online, without having to have a database-instance at hand. It supports a lot of databases, Oracle 11.2 but also various versions of MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
You can use it to test portability of SQL-statements, to try out functionality, but also to stage a problem you face, and create a link for that complete testcase and share it on your blog or on stackoverflow.com or some other platform. Check it out! It’s for free and it’s a great idea as well.
I’ve lost the link to the blog where I found the reference to SQLFiddle, otherwise I would have mentioned it here as well.
